FAQs

Demolition work at Clare House, Hawthorne Avenue is due to start in February 2026.   The work will be carried out by ERITH CONTRACTORS LTD, a specialist demolition company.  We expect the demolition to take around 8 to 10 months to complete.
Working hours will be 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, with limited activity on Saturdays if needed.  If any weekend work is required, we will write to you in advance to let you know.
Some dust is expected during demolition. Dust control measures such as water spraying, covering trucks, and site monitoring will be used to reduce the impact on nearby homes.. The site will be securely fenced and monitored at all times, with 24/7 security in place.
Demolition will create noise at times. Contractors will use best-practice methods to minimise noise and will comply with permitted noise limits. Noisy activities will be limited where possible.
Parking around Clare House has been removed to allow for the new development. Residents and those directly affected have been notified.
Contractors are not permitted to use residential parking spaces and will park within their designated site compound only.
Please contact us using the email address ClareHouse@clarionhg.com.
The contractors will also have dedicated members of their teams to contact, and their numbers will be displayed on the hoarding.
We will send regular updates on the progress of the regeneration, upcoming activities and any changes.
The new homes will be offered to residents who moved out of Clare House.  The remaining homes will be allocated through LB Tower Hamlets Homeseekers website.

The former residents of Clare House will be contacted directly to discuss their rehousing options.
Clarion commissioned a safety inspection in 2019 and there were a number of fire safety and structural reports that were not satisfactory.  This triggered the move of all the residents in the property for their own safety.
As part of this project, our contractor has committed to delivering real social value for the community. This means they will create apprenticeships, job opportunities and training programmes that residents can benefit from. These opportunities are designed to support people living in the area to learn new skills, gain confidence and access long term employment. Our aim is to make sure the project brings lasting benefits to the community, not just through the building work, but by helping local people thrive.
You can find full details of the planning application on the London Borough of Tower Hamlets website.  Planning application ref PA/24/01755.
We are replacing the existing Francis Lee Community Centre with a new community space that will have its own access and its own outdoor space.  We will give more information on this space as the main build works progress
